- a few months ago i installed the tiga gfx board along with the egs system. it
- works but in an awfull slow way.
-
- ok here we go. i guess your egs system comes from orion.edu.etsu (/pub/egs)
- the official egs support site. this disk are compiled for use with gvp
- spektrum gfx board and you have to customize it for the a2410 by removing all
- the legs#? stuff from the config and startup drawers.
-
- get the egs system 7 update from their ftp site and install it. check out
- aminet for "EGSA2410Classi.lha" (driver & documentation) and
- "EGSA2410v20b17.lha" (latest beta, does not require a2410.device and tiga load
- and has undergone a major speedup) juergen schober did really a great job.
-
- nevertheless... egs is slow and you can`t drag screens with it. it operates
- internaly with 24bit and calculates a dithered output for boards with less
- than true color. an elegant but rather time consuming method.
-
-
- speedup solutions are
-
- - use only native egs applications. requires monitor switch and isn`t quite
- fun
-
- - wait for a cybergraphx driver. cybergraphx`s installation procedure claims
- to support the tiga board but a driver isn`t available (yet?)
-
- - buy a good zorro3 gfx board like the retinaz3 or piccolosd64 and if not
- already installed a revision 11 buster. i admit a very expensive solution
- that does not include the tiga usage... since two months i`m using an amiga
- 3000 with retinaz3 and cybergraphx system. workbench runs now at 1024x768,
- 256cols, 70hz faster than ntsc 640x400x16. zoom! my best buy last year.
